David Wright insists he will return from the disabled list in 2013… if he’s healthy enough to play.
Wright, who has been on the disabled list since August with a strained right hamstring, recently participated in baseball activities at Citi Field.
Terry Collins is not concerned about about further damaging the hamstring, especially if the whole organization agrees on Wright’s condition and ability to play.
“If something happens, it’s part of the game,” Collins said. “Should we shut down Zack Wheeler right now? Should we possibly run him out there one more time? I don’t know. How about the catcher, who has been hit in the head seven times in the last four games he’s caught? Should we get him out of there in case he gets hit?”
Wright has said he would like to be back by the end of this week.
“People spend a lot of money on these tickets and I want to go out there and put on a good show for them,” said Wright.
