David Wright has been named the National League’s Player of the Week for the period of August 29-September 4. This is Wright’s third Player of the Week honor (also August 28, 2005 and June 25, 2006). He is the first Mets player to win the award since Johan Santana on August 17, 2008.
In his last eight games over the last week, Wright has hit .500 (13-26) with six runs, five doubles, one home run and seven RBI. He is now hitting .277 and a .368 on base percentage with 12 home runs and 49 RBI in 303 at bats this season.
