David Wright ran the bases on Wednesday for the first time since straining his hamstring and landing on the disabled list.
“We’ll run him again Thursday and try to amp it up over the weekend,” Terry Collins later said.
Wright continues to say he will return to action for the Mets before the end of the season.
“It felt great,” Wright said of his running.
He took batting practice and fielded grounders on Tuesday with an eye on being activated from the disabled list toward the end of next week.
The Mets are 15-21 since Wright was placed on the disabled list.
