Today at Citi Field, David Wright spoke with reporters and said he believes he will return at some point before the end of the season.
“I don’t think there’s any question,” Wright said.
Wright said he will be going to Port St. Lucie at some point to rehab, but is working with trainers in New York on leg strengthening.
Wright did say he has been hitting off a tee and playing catch, but hasn’t begun running. However, he said he hasn’t felt anything and doesn’t think he’s suffered any setbacks as he recovers from his pulled hamstring.
Wright doesn’t think he will need many games in Florida before returning to the Mets, although he doesn’t yet have a timetable for his return.
Wright was placed on the disabled list with a strained right hamstring in early August. Terry Collins initially said Wright would miss 3-5 weeks.
