David Wright didn’t re-sign with Mets to finish in fourth place

Wright JerseyIn an interview this morning on WFAN, David Wright said he did fear he might be traded this winter.

However, after meeting with Sandy Alderson and Jeff Wilpon early in the off-season, and after seeing their plan for the future, he was confident he would get a new deal… and he did.

Wright said he only signed the extension because he believes in what Alderson is doing, he believes in the farm system and he was convinced the team will soon have the financial flexibility to help improve the team.

“I didn’t sign back here to finish in fourth place again. I wanted to make sure, if I’m gonna go all in, I want the organization to go all in as well.”

Also, he said the Jets should stick with Mark Sanchez, and mentioned Johan Santana is a passionate fantasy football fan.
