The New York Post’s Joel Sherman spoke with nine executives who think the Rays will trade LHP David Price this offseason.
The Rangers, Cubs and D-Backs were the most popular guesses, when asked where Price will end up, according to Sherman.
In a recent post to ESPN.com, Buster Olney said, based on how the Rays have handled previous players of his caliber, Price will almost certainly be moved before next summer’s trade deadline… if not sooner.

The Mets won’t be interested, I assume, because they need to use their bullets on hitting. And, Price will cost so much, it would not be possible for Sandy Alderson to acquire him and an impact bat. Frankly, I don’t think he has the talent to get Price alone, but you get the point…
For instance, MLB.com Rangers reporter T.R. Sullivan guesses that Texas would need to give up top young SS Jurickson Profar, a top pitching prospect and another top hitting prospect from the lower minors to acquire Price.
The important thing here is that Texas could also deal Profar to acquire a bat, such as Giancarlo Stanton or another player Alderson may have interest in. A deal like this could marginalize the Mets or maybe make them a possible option for a three-way trade…
