According to SNY’s Matt Dunn, Sandy Alderson said Daniel Murphy has discomfort in his intercostal muscle, and will go to New York for an evaluation.
Alderson expects Murphy to miss a week.
Meanwhile, Murphy described the feeling as, “a little bit sore,” and the injury can possibly be attributed to some mechanical changes he’s made to his swing.
In 156 games last season, Murphy hit .291 with a .332 on-base percentage, 40 doubles, six home runs and 65 RBI in 612 plate appearances. He played in 133 games at second base, eight games and first base, and appeared 18 times as a pinch hitter.
