This experiment is really struggling to get off the ground for the Mets, and he certainly did them no favors with his performance Monday. It might sense to see what Dice-K had left in the tank, especially with the injuries in the rotation and a need to spread starts out for Zack Wheeler. However, Dice-K has a lot of work to do to return to being a big-league starting pitcher.
He has been all over the place, he hasn’t fooled anyone when he does throw strikes, he has gotten obliterated and has been slower than molasses while doing it. I mean, he’s made Steve Trachsel look like the Roadrunner with how slow he is to deliver the ball. Hopefully, he can turn things around in his next start. With Aaron Harang (and maybe others) on the horizon for later this month, Dice-K’s clock is ticking.
