Daisuke Matsuzaka expected to resume throwing soon

Daisuke Matsuzaka, who was placed on the disabled list last Friday due to inflammation in his right elbow, is expected to resume throwing within the next three or four days (Rubin, July 28).

According to Terry Collins, Matsuzaka has been responding well to anti inflammatory medication.

In 28 appearances (nine starts) spanning 74.1 innings pitched in 2014, Matsuzaka has posted a 3.87 ERA and 1.33 WHIP.

Matsuzaka, who recently shifted back to the bullpen after Jon Niese‘s activation from the disabled list, is eligible to return on August 9.

Good. Hope he recovers soon. He's been a surprisingly integral part of this pitching staff. Him and Torres for sure are our insurance guys.

Did Duda just sit back on a pitch and drive it through the middle? Holy Crap!!

Knowing Dice-K's wanmup routine..he's probably throwing every half hour just in case Terry needs him to pitch while on the disabled list
