According to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse, the Rangers have reached an agreement to sign RHP Brandon Webb.
From what I understand, the Mets viewed Brandon Webb as a riskier alternative to Jeff Francis or Chris Young, and he was likely to be seeking more money than Francis or Young.
Not that Young and Francis aren’t risky propositions themselves…
Webb has not pitched since Opening Day in 2009 after suffering a shoulder injury, but finished in the top three in Cy Young voting with the Diamondbacks from 2006-2008, and was the winner in 2006.
He just completed the fifth year option year in a four year, $19.5 million contract he signed with the Diamondbacks in January, 2006.
