Jon Niese pitches Friday and Jacob deGrom Saturday. The Mets will need to make two roster moves for deGrom and Colon to start. Colon will return to the Dominican Republic Monday for his mother’s funeral.
The Dodgers also adjusted their rotation, meaning the Mets won’t have to face Clayton Kershaw. Zach Greinke (elbow discomfort) was pushed to Saturday; Dan Haren goes Friday (Orange County Register, Aug. 20)
Terry Collins told reporters pitcher Jenrry Mejia was unavailable because of back issues and not the hernia that has bothered him the past few weeks.
