Colon to pitch Sunday; Mets will miss Kershaw

Bartolo Colon will return to the Mets on Sunday to pitch against the Dodgers in the finale of the three-game series in Los Angeles. It will be his first outing since his mother died Monday, when Colon missed his scheduled start (Rubin, Aug. 20).

Jon Niese pitches Friday and Jacob deGrom Saturday. The Mets will need to make two roster moves for deGrom and Colon to start. Colon will return to the Dominican Republic Monday for his mother’s funeral.

The Dodgers also adjusted their rotation, meaning the Mets won’t have to face Clayton Kershaw. Zach Greinke (elbow discomfort) was pushed to Saturday; Dan Haren goes Friday (Orange County Register, Aug. 20)

Terry Collins told reporters pitcher Jenrry Mejia was unavailable because of back issues and not the hernia that has bothered him the past few weeks.

Metsblog: Looks like the Mets will be missing Clayton Kershaw this weekend.

The Mets: We wouldn't say we'd be "missing" him, Metsblog.

Just put Mejia on the DL for 15 days. Why is this so difficult? You may also want to be the boss and tell David he is going to be rested every 20 to 25 games. He could still come off the bench, same with Murphy. What am I not understanding? The Mets leak their criticism of Jerry Manuel being abusive to the players to keep his job and they are currently doing the same thing.

Hey Gonzalez and Buddy don't look at it as being demoted think of it as going to a playoff contender just AAA. Then either Montero to the pen or 6 Man Rotation

Germen goes down, and maybe Montero?

Anyone know if deGrom is pitching Saturday?  Gonna be in LA that day for the game and I hope I get to see him pitch again.  Last time he was in a 51s jersey, so will be nice to see him in proper Mets attire.

Now things have gotten so bad that the opposition doesn't think the Mets are worth wasting their best pitchers on.

I wouldn't say they'll miss him, Bob!

1 of the roster moves will be Montero back down to keep starting in AAA? I wonder if the other move will be Mejia to the DL. He's been terrible lately trying to pitch through his injury issues anyway.

Angels really wanted Neise for a while, but there system is horrendous and have nothing the mets want.

Now that Richards looks like he is done for the year, wonder if the angels will come calling for Bartolo.

@2ndhalffun They float in a permanent state of limbo.  An empty, soulless, meander through an irrelevant reality.   A joyless state of terminal mediocrity, haplessly fumbling away time between Fiddy Cent and Boyz ii Men concerts.  A somewhat forgettable assemblage of some of the most bland athletes, many of which with bad haircuts.  It's not a pretty picture.

@Brandon Hillman I'd take Calhoun but not sure if they would give him up. Niese is better than CJ Wilson and costs less too.

@hubie_wc didn't you mention that already?

Damn let the guy bury his mom before you bury him

I'm not burying him. Mentioning the possibility he could get traded. There is a difference. Don't be so ignorant.

Don't play innocent Hubie. You're relentless with your hate, not to mention posting the same garbage over and over like a hate-bot

You are an idiot! I actually liked colon and the signing from day one. It is all about the $$$. You are the only person on here that doesn't realize the wilponzis are broke.
