Shaun Marcum is throwing, but is not close to pitching in a game, Terry Collins said before Monday’s game in Philadelphia, according to SNY’s Matt Dunn.
Collins also noted that Frank Francisco played catch today, and will return to a mound tomorrow. He may pitch in a game of some sort this week, Collins said, likely in extended spring training in Port St. Lucie.
Last week, Marcum was diagnosed with nerve inflammation in his neck at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and received “trigger-point injections” in his neck. Marcum is on the 15-day disabled list with biceps tendinitis.
Francisco had surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow in December. He had been shut down early in camp after experiencing discomfort in his elbow. Francisco is also on the 15-day DL.
