Looking forward to Chris Young's Mets debut!  That career .235 average will fit in nicely.

I didn't want cy I wanted Cruz, but I'm gunna stop crying ab it bc there's nothing I can do. I hope he brings something to the table and hit some homeruns. I know he gunna strikeout a lot and hit for a lower average but if he can bring some power and speed to this lineup and play great defense it's a welcome addition. Please do not take Lagares out of centerfield tho. Don't you dare.

Boys and girls..

Jose Abreu is having a nice start.  6/$68Mil.  You really want to commit that kind of money (and time) to an unknown?

Prepare yourselves for this idiotic situation.  When CYoung comes back, JLagares will become a 4th outfielder.  Grandy and CYoung make too much to sit bench, and TC looks at games like yesterday and sees EYoung as the lead off guy this team needs.  I don't like it, but...

This bullpen maybe ain't so bad?  Although I think Lannan is gonna ask to be released sooner rather than later.  "loogy"is not his thing, and he can't crack this rotation unless someone gets hurt.

Lastly, this 'High Heat' show with Mad Dog Russo is dumber than listening to him on the radio only.  Seeing his ridiculous mug is 10 times worse

Things are looking up.  Can't complain, at the moment.

Last year we had Marlon Byrd on a 1 year deal with no option and he turned out to be amazing but for some reason Sandy didnt wast to give him an option just in case that in fact happened. If Sandy would have offered him an option with the contact the Mets could have signed Johnny Peralta or Drew instead of signing an aging Curtis Granderson for 15 million a year and 7.5 mil on Chris Young who hit under 200 last year for the A's. There is a diiference between a real good team who keeps their breakout stars or sign possible break out stars and the Mets who do th opposite

Instead of wasting 7.5 million on this bum, Sandy should have signed Jose Abreu to play 1B. Jose Abreu already has 4 HR's and 14 RBI's.

Great job Sandy!

Should have kept the receipt and returned him to Wal-Mart. Can we get a real life major league shortstop already?

He's definitely wayyyy better than Eric Young Jr.

that's good news. ideally, Young swaps places with EYJ, and Lagares leads off...the lineup instantly gets better.

@mets2891  You should start preparing yourself.  This is Terry "The Boob" Collins we're talking about.

@3210 get MLB At Bat App.  Im in FL w/ Comcast too.  Thats how I watch and listen to all the games. $20/month- WELL WORTH IT.

Wait, are you calling Byrd a breakout star?   hilarious.

ANyway, the Mets handled Byrd perfectly.  They got excellent production for practically nothing and then they traded him for 2 good prospects.  Now the Phils are stuck paying him for what he did last year for the Mets.

Abreu is earning an average of 11 million per year, and was (and. Remains) by no means a slam dunk. Yeah he has 4 HRs. BFD. two came off of twins and the other two at Colorado. He went 1-11 in KC so im sure he would look as good against WAS, ATL, and CIN. Relax

What does signing Young have to do with not signing Abreu?  Instead of spending 7.5 million on a back-up OFer the Mets should have spent $70 + million, or whatever it would have taken, to outbid the Sox on Abreu?  I don't think it works that way.

Hey tullydew......Nothing like a Monday morning QB, if your so damn good you should predict the lottos numbers as well. Schmuck.

@tullydew  Not arguing that CY was a great signing by any stretch. But there was no way in hell they were going to get into a 6 year commitment with a guy who has never played in the MLB's. Just wasn't going to happen. Goes against everything financially fiscal they have preached. It was a pipe dream.

As well as the fact that there were some scouts who were very leery of Abreau and said he had a lot of holes in his swing. So there's no way a team like the Mets and their financial situation were going to go after him. And keep in mind the guy has played 10 games so far. Let the league see him a few times, get a book on him. You never know.

@tullydew  Completely different types of commitments. Young is better than EYJ and when he's healthy, he extends our lineup. It was a smart deal.

Righty-lefty.. One would assume Brown. I would start Ike. He needs the at-bats to ever take off. *ducks personal attacks*

@nymetsrule @C.K. Dexter HavenLagares will end up as one of the, if not thee, best Center fielders to ever wear the Mets uniform.  You can quote me on that.

Dilson Herrera is off to a Solid start in St. Lucie. So is Nimmo, for what it's worth.

Btw, Dilson has been playing SS.

@metstones Well, a lot of us predicted that Abreu would be a good ML player and they should have been aggressively pursuing him.

@Ian Carvalho Chris Young is a career .235 hitter (.315 OBP) who strikes out a ton and hardly walks (career 2.29 Ks per BB.)   I really don't see how that extends our line up.

jamets

Take it easy.  Lagares has 6 RBI. I wouldn't call that a machine.  Guys regulary do that in one game.

jamets

Not to mention that a good chunk of his value comes from his ability to play + defense in CF - something is wasted on this team where he figures to play primarily LF.
