Buzz: Mets still interested in Rod Barajas

C Rod Barajas is still available on the free-agent market.

Barajas hit just .226 last season, but with 19 HR and 71 RBI, in 125 games for the Blue Jays, while hitting .267 against left-handed pitching.

from what i can gather, the Mets have talked with barajas’s agent at various times this off season, though they hadn’t been very substantive talks up until now… the Rangers have had interest in barajas this off season, as well… i do think he is capable of cracking 15 or so home runs for the Mets, though he is generally inconsistent at the plate… also, he’ll play significantly better defense than Bengie Molina would have played…

…i believe barajas can be had for a one-year, $3 million contract… if this is true, i’d like to see the Mets acquire him, as i feel he and Henry Blanco would make for a terrific, defense-first battery, with barajas capable of driving in runs, since he puts the ball in play so much… unfortunately, both blanco and barajas do their best offensive work against left-handed pitching, as opposed to Omir Santos, who hits righties not lefties

I hate excuses. Fatigued? Seriously haha. Thats on you Woodson. Dont listen to what Dolan says. We all need to throw tomatoes and beer bottles on the garden floor for this to end.

@OLD_KNICK Isaiah's point is so short sighted and asinine. You have to able to win even WITHOUT everyone being healthy. That is why coaches need to be creative motivators. Practically anyone on this blog can coach a healthy team. Give me or Old Knick or Chris $$$ and watch us get some wins. Shizz!

@rgm891 Some type of uprising of the fans has to occur. That really is the only hope.

@BiggieSmalls

OK, here is my fake trade. Bynum to Chicago for Deng. That trade will get the notoriously cheap Bulls out of the luxury tax. The Bulls tank and get into the lottery. The Cavs plug Deng alongside Thompson and put Varajao in the post and make a run at the playoffs.

@OLD_KNICK Old school fans know better than anyone owh unpredictable and inconsistent he is.

The move to say "no trades, no firings", was likely to bring some sort of balance and sense of continuty and security, while, imo, if the team goes 0-4 (very likely) starting from today's game going out West, Dolan won't hesitate to pull the trigger in any sense of the word.

The dude tries, but his sin is not knowing the game and trusting the wrong people over and over again.

Not many owners waste so much money as he does, but he goes about it all wrong.

This won't change.

@OLD_KNICK I think Dolan said that in a fit of rage over being called out by the fans and being hounded by the media. He's acting like a spoiled little rich kid. Obstinant--spitefully stomping his little feet, putting his hands over his ears, etc. He has personality issues and you actually can't believe a word he says.

We have the second highest payroll and one game ahead of the sixers. Let that sink in. They're trying to tank and doing a better job. Lmaoo. You are 100 percent right old knick with everything you've been saying. Rondo forcing a trade to the knicks? There is a better chance dolan gets a role in the next hobbit movie as one of the main dwarf characters than that happening.

100 percent man or david stern does a favor once again! We are already losing bloggers. The garden is a dead zone. Players dont care. It cant last much longer. Woodson is not getting anymore easy wins. The losing will continue

@OLD_KNICK Yes. The nature of "fandom" if you will is about investing monetary and emotional capital. Some of us have done this for years regarding the Knicks. This kind of disrespect of those fans and rank incompetence year after year takes a toll. Sad but true.
