Buzz: Mets like Idea of Adding Ted Lilly

Ken Davidoff of Newsday says the Mets like the idea of acquiring LHP Ted Lilly from the Cubs, since he is due roughly $6 million the rest of this season, meaning they would need to give up less talent to get him.

The 34–year-old Lilly has a 3.76 ERA in 14 starts for the Cubs this season, while striking out 64 batters and walking 22 in 93 innings pitched.

He is eligible to be a free agent at the end of this season.

However, according to MLBTR, Lilly will likely be a Type A free agent, meaning he could net two compensatory draft picks should he leave to a new team this off season.
