Buzz: Mets are Scouting Roy Oswalt, More Lee Notes

According to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, the Mets, Dodgers, Phillies and Rays all had scouts in attendance today to watch Roy Oswalt pitch a complete-game shutout against the Pirates.

…the latest buzz from houston suggests the Astros will now accept your team’s bad contract in return for you taking on oswalt and all of the $32 million due to him the next two seasons, but you must also include your best pitching prospect and a young bat… which, to me, sounds like: Oliver Perez, and the one-year and $12 million left on his deal after this season, plus Fernando Martinez and, say, Jenrry Mejia… however, that reads like a deal that would go down in my fantasy league, which leads me to believe it will never happen

Speaking of starting pitchers…

“Seattle is still asking for a lot,” one interested GM told Jon Heyman of SI.com, in regards to the asking price for Mariners LHP Cliff Lee.

According to Heyman, the Rays, Twins, Rangers, Phillies, Yankees, Reds, Red Sox and Mets are among the 12 to 15 teams that have inquired about Lee.
