Buzz: Beltran's Return, Potential Lineup

Carlos Beltran was hitless in four at bats yesterday in a rehab game for Single-A St. Lucie.

Jerry Manuel told reporters yesterday that Beltran could be back as soon as next week’s series at home against the Reds, but then said the best thing would probably be to wait to bring him back after the All-Star break.

...i think that makes the most sense… why get him going, only to stop… just let him keep doing what he’s doing, then bring him back full steam

Manuel also explained  that he’d likely bat Beltran third, with David Wright bating cleanup, Ike Davis hitting fifth and Jason Bay batting sixth.

In  games that Angel Pagan starts, Pagan will bat second, regardless of whether Luis Castillo is or isn’t in the starting lineup.

…that’s great to hear… however, Ruben Tejada should be starting at second, not luis... there is a good chance that, at 20 years old, tejada is the smartest player on the field right now...
