Bronson Arroyo’s agent, Terry Bross, told Dan Martin of the New York Post his client would definitely consider the Mets as an option this winter.
Still, Bross said they will wait out the free agent market, as they do not intend to sign anywhere quickly.
“Bronson is an East Coast guy and would definitely consider the Mets,” Bross said. “But we’re going to take our time with this.”
Arroyo – who is seeking at least a two-year deal this winter – doesn’t think the Reds will present a qualifying offer to him (Sheldon, MLB.com, Oct. 8).
Arroyo, 36, went 13-12 with a 3.79 ERA in 32 starts with 32 walks and 124 strikeouts while allowing a league-high 32 home runs in 202 innings with the Reds in 2013.
Arroyo just completed a three-year, $36 million contract he signed with Cincinnati before the 2011 season – he earned $6.5 million in 2013.
