Bronson Arroyo

Bronson Arroyo could sign a three-year contract soon, but not with Reds

The Mets (Cafardo, Dec. 1), Phillies, Reds and Angels (Zolecki, Dec. 9) are among a dozen teams with interest in free-agent RHP Bronson Arroyo, who could sign a three-year, $36 million deal at the Winter Meetings. (Sherman, Dec. 10).

According to one report on Tuesday, the Mets and Reds were making a strong push to sign him (Wolfson, Dec. 10). But the Reds are now telling other clubs they expect Arroyo to sign elsewhere (Stark, Dec. 11).

It was reported last week that the Twins and Mets were aggressively pursuing him (Cotillo, Dec. 5). However, a follow-up report on Tuesday indicated the Mets were not interested (Heyman), which is similar to what a team official said last week (Rubin, Dec. 2).

The Twins met with Arroyo and his agent Tuesday afternoon (Rosencrans, Dec. 10) as the two sides continued to negotiate a possible deal (Neal, Dec. 10).

In addition to the Twins, the Pirates (Olney, Dec. 9) and Mets (Puma, Dec. 6Cafardo, Dec. 2) were supposedly interested in meeting with Arroyo’s representatives during the Winter Meetings, though the Pirates may no longer be interested  (Biertempfel, Dec. 10).

Arroyo has said previously he has offers on the table, but as of Monday he was not yet ready to sign a new contract (Cafardo, Dec. 9). He is reportedly looking for a three-year deal (Rubin, Nov. 30) and says he would definitely consider signing with the Mets (Martino, Nov. 1).

The old Mets would sign him and deal away the young guys. I doubt he's coming to New York unless it's as a Yankee.

If I were upper management with the Mets and I am NOT! I would sign this kid in a heart beat after pitching in Cincinnati all these years and being the heart of there order and as tough as he is NO QUESTION

For Arroyo its a fair deal for him and good for him if he can get it. Its out of the mets league i think and if we do get him we will trade no more FA signings

I wonder if this is the Mets leaking this to justify why they're not going to get him.  He'll probably sign a 2 year deal back in Cincy and the Mets will say he wanted 3 years at $12 mil per.  I don't think there's a team in baseball that would do $12 mil for 3 years...when the Mets lie, they should at least make it somewhat believable...

I 100% would not do 3 years at $12 per as I'd rather have Drew for that and sign a medicore vet for the back of rotation for 1 year, just to get us through the year - then next year Harvey's back and Syndergaard will have already had his cup of coffee and ready to go.

....Tired of saying "next year" every year.

How about a 3 Team trades if he goes back to Cincinnati.

Yankees get Brandon Phillips

Reds get Gardner, Murphy, ptbnl from Yankees

Mets get Ichiro, Mike Leake

Yankees get their second baseman to replace Cano.

Reds get the outfielder to replace Choo and a second baseman to replace Phillips.

Mets get a platoon partner/fourth outfielder in Ichiro and a young controllable starter that Alderson's looking for in a trade for Murphy.

I wonder more what this mean for Tony Cingrani and my Fantasy Dynasty League.

in other words the Mets found that he wanted more than 1 years and $3M so they have no interest in paying.

Too rich for my blood.  Rather have Bruce Chen on a more reasonable 2-yr deal.

Hopefully not with the Mets. He's a 2 year commitment at best.

3 years $36M how many years after Oliver Perez's identical contract?

Would you rather date a lady or a child?

The man deserved this contract...

God bless you Bronson

i do believe its a very fair deal but i do not think its the Mets.  Most likely back in Cincy.

That really does nothing for the Mets.

So they went out and signed another pitcher for 2 years and 20 million. Your argument makes no sense. Maybe they just don't like Arroyo.

@Hodges14
We had a cup of coffee 12 years ago before he developed.  That's like saying, I made out with this girl in Middle School, but I wouldn't sleep with her now, no matter how attractive she is.
