In the event Sandy Alderson looks to trade him this summer – based on current contracts, timing and budget – the Giants, Brewers and Twins could end up being the best fit for Jose Reyes, according to Paul Swydan of Fangraphs.
I have no idea how this is going to go. I really don’t. It’s difficult for me to think about this pragmatically, because I love watching Jose play baseball and I hate the thought of him being on another team. That said, I also know he could probably return at least one good pitching prospect in a trade, even as a two- or three-month rental. I also know it is not smart business to hand out a six- or seven-year contract to a 28-year-old shortstop who relies so heavily on his legs. It’s times like this that I’m happy being the blogger, and not the GM.
