In a post to ESPN.com, Jim Bowden says the Braves would like to retain OF Michael Bourn over the long-term, but given he is represented by Scott Boras, “negotiations won’t be easy.”
Bowden lists Ben Revere, Chris Young, Peter Bourjos, Dexter Fowler, Denard Span, or Drew Stubbs as possible replacements to Bourn, should the team part ways with Bourn.
In addition, according to Bowden, the Braves might consider moving OF Martin Prado to third base, or they might consider trading for Chase Headley, Mike Olt, Nolan Arenado, Nick Castellanos, or even David Wright.
In regards to Wright, Bowden says, “It’s OK to dream, right?”
Michael Baron, ContributorThe thought of Wright leaving is hard to digest, let alone as Chipper Jones’ replacement in Atlanta. I can’t even imagine the fallout such a trade would create for the Mets from a PR perspective, regardless of the haul Wright would command in such a trade (especially to a hated division rival). Still, if Wright and the Mets cannot come to terms before the Winter Meetings, there’s no question rumors will begin to swirl about Wright, whether they’re true or not. Wright is in a fact a fit in Atlanta given their immediate need at third base, as sickening as that sounds…
