Brandon NImmo makes the catch

Brandon Nimmo left Tuesday’s game with ankle injury

Mets Single-A OF prospect Brandon Nimmo left Tuesday’s game with a sprained left ankle, according to reporter Adam Rubin (ESPN, May 27).

1:02 p.m.: Nimmo caught his spike in the grass and sprained his ankle. He was removed for precautionary reasons. He is day-to-day (McCarthy, May 28).

Nimmo, 21, cut off a double in the gap and came up wincing in pain.

Nimmo left the game, though Rubin says he managed to walk off the field under his own power.

As long as he didn't rip up his leg like Bobby Valentine colliding with a fence.

If he's a hockey player, he puts tape on it and returns to his position.

If he's a basketball player, two guys come out and he's assisted of the field while putting an arm over their shoulders.

and if he's  Ronnie Lott, he cuts it off and limps around with a stump.

Since its the mets lets face it the kid will never see the major leagues.

I was at the game last night and it looked bad at first as he was immediately hopping on one foot as he attempted to throw the ball back into the infield. We were fearing the worst as he was on the ground for a good five minutes as the trainers attended to him. Then he got up and ran sprints to test the ankle before ultimately walking off the field on his own.

Well maybe the St Lucie fans should be less critical and more plentiful then bad things wouldnt happen

this kid is destined to be our LF for years to come.  just not until 2016.

i'm very curious to see who the player to be named lated is in the Ike deal and hopefully they draft the best player ( almost always an arm) in the draft.

however Trae Turner might be there at 10 and he is a college ss with great speed.  maybe we get lucky.

Pitching is the key to winning in Citi.  pitching will allow us to trade for a first baseman who can hit.

we are building a bullpen now that feels like one that could be dominant. Black just need some control but his stuff is nasty.  same with Familia.   add in Mejia and hopefully Parnell sometime next year and you have 4 power arms.

It's a rolled ankle. walked off on his own power. As long as he avoids the ike davis boot should be out about a week probably less. In reality his next game should be in AA. He has nothing left two prove in St lucie. He is probably the best pure hitter in the league at age 21. If they go a little aggressive with him and he succeeds at AA he might have and outside shot of challenging for roster spot next year.

@nagel100 Great if we get Trea turner...I hope they just get the best player available at their slot...what is it?..10th pick?  Jays have 9th and 11 th picks..lucky..Pitcher Tyler Beede looks good too if hes still there.

@Albert E Lewis 10th, yes. The risk in Turner is that there's a chance his bat won't be good enough. But from everything I've read, he's a solid pick at 10, considering the draft is shallow on position players. BA & ESPN's K Law have written the Mets have scouted the lefty from Connecticut Newcomb (sp) thoroughly as well.
