Bobby Parnell will require surgery to repair a herniated disk in his neck.
Parnell has yet to undergo the procedure.
7:50 p.m.: Parnell had surgery to repair his herniated disk in California today, the team announced.
10:06 a.m.: Parnell is expected to have his surgery today, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.
On Sunday, Terry Collins said Parnell will give his neck until the middle of the month before deciding whether or not to have surgery.
“If I do have surgery, they said I’ll be ready for spring training next year,” Parnell said last month, according to reporters.
Parnell has been on the disabled list since August 6, retroactive to July 31. He has a 2.16 ERA with 22 saves in 49 games this season.
