Thanks God!  I thought I was going to have to come on this site and complain once again that the Mets need to cut this guy.  Hopefully Kirk gets some playing time over CY because he hasn't done anything as well.

whether it be kirk or Dd, they should let either play substantial consecutive games,if for anything to showcase them, and use in a trade package for if and when Sandy decides to get another bat.

Terry collins probably made this decision to promote kirk instead of dendekker being terry has no clue how to evaluate talent or reward success. He'll probably keep saying the youngs are the best option just like tejada to play everyday because in terrys mind getting 1 hit every 10 games or so translates to playing prettt good. I can't wait until the terry era is over. Hes one of the worst managers in Mets history! If we're going to have a sub par manager I'd rather have Dallas Green or Art Howe then Terry. At least they had winning records in their previous gigs!

Time for den Dekker and cut Chris Young

If they're going to call him up, he needs to play everyday. They need to ship C Young out immediately as well.

Wrong message, why Kirk and not denDekker? Kirk was not hitting well when he was sent down and has not hit well since back in AAA, denDekker has been tearing it up and is the organizations 2nd best defender, promote the guy playing the best, sends a strong message to the entire organization, performance will be rewarded. Abreu gone was right move, very little value to the team.

Abreu was finished already.  Capt Kirk coming up to strikeout.  This team is pathetic just like CY

I had a ton more confidence in Abreu than CY who looks lost at the plate....at least Abreu could work a count and hit with authority to all fields...regardless of recent slump, would have kept him over CY.

You Know!...Mets seems to have the opportunity to win a ballgame almost everynight, but it doesn't happen..Most of you guys are correct there is another bat needed , someone with credibility. Mets are not a good team, its a group of good ballplayers that fails to perform at the right moment. Excellents starting pitchers and good bullpen with lack of confidence. They tried to get baters swinging at bad pitches not throwing strikes. They are not aggresive on one and two pitches. On the ofensive side you got players like Lagares ( what a dandy defensive player!!!) Eric Young Jr. and Flores that looks totally overmatched at the plate (Lagares even thou gets some hits and is batting for a good average) Then you have a guy like Tejada with impecable defense and who looks like someone that knows how to handle a bat, he hits the outside pitch to right and when pitched inside he can pull with authority (not power) However even thou he handles the bat with confidence he gets underneath the ball so often that I hate to see him coming to the plate. If he learns his weakness and starts using his skills he can be a good SS anyplace else but in the Mets team , therefore he needs a change of scenary. This year is a total waste, So lets get Rios and  put a pack with Wright and Wheeler and lets get a good (real deal) ballplayer like Baez or profar.

Good! Now do the same with Chris Young!

This .500, Wild Card BS has to stop. We have to set up for next year. We need to see MDD/Kirk everyday in LF. We have to see Flores play everyday to determine his and Murphy's future. We also need to see Montero, Synergaard, and Matz in a few starts. Release CY as well. Play Legares everyday, and instruct him in base stealing and make him run. All this will be a big help in setting up for 2015.

Given the same playing time he'd prolly get the same stats like wright

What would it cost to trade for Jurickson Profar in the offseason?

Tejada could , if he wanted to, learn how to choke up on the bat and become a contact hitter. If he did it he could become a key part of this team because the Mets are in desperate need of a good number 2 hitter. He's no Ozzie but his defense is adequate. Every good team needs a 2 hitter who doesn't strike out and moves runners along for the big bats behind him. This would allow Murph to go to the 3 hole and Wright to hit fifth. Tejada seems to think he would rather be a 250 hitter who hits 10 to 15 homers a year. This he will never do especially in Citi. If he doesn't do it the Mets have no alternative but to get rid of him. And to that I say good riddance.

Young helped the team lose today.  GET RID OF HIM.

Please allow me to vent gentlemen. The reason Tejada drives me insane is that he obviously has enough talent to be a useful part of this team.

This being the case, I would hope that at a minimum, that TC would platoon Kirk and Campbell, and release CY. I know, keep on dreaming, right ?  :(

@A Pocono View_ Kirk has zero, nothing zilch trade value, playing time or no playing time, every team in the league as a few Kirks running around.  He might get included in some deal as a AAA+ OF to do what he is doing here, but he will not be a substantial part of any trade at any point.

baseballnblues
baseballnblues

@robby  I predict that Kirk will make a lot more contact than Abreu did...that's all that matters with this move.

@golsf  Agreed.  I can't tell you how much I'd like to see this guy off the team.

Just saw a replay of the Hunter Pence triple from this afternoon's game.  Lagares might have had that ball if this fool in LF hadn't gotten in his way (while of course having no shot of catching the ball himself).

Other than steal money, what is it that Chris Young does well?

James
James

@Antonino Plaud That trade package makes no sense, if you trade Wheeler + Wright you are basically using Wheeler to pay for Wright's contract, I don't know what you are expecting to get in return, but it won't be what you could have gotten by just trading Wheeler.

2ndhalffun
2ndhalffun

@Antonino Plaud Who wants David Wright and his $16 million per year contract? Why would Texas want DW? They have a 3B.  I'm not giving up Wheeler. Wheeler may be your opening starter in 2015. You never give up young --very good ---cheap pitching. You keep stock piling it.

Rich Anderson

May I interrupt your run on paragraph to ascertain whether you feel this year is a total waste? How so? Developed young pitching staff (Wheeler/deGROM) as we await Harvey's return, found a first baseman that can actually hit home runs and hit his weight, a catcher that has solid potential, a CF who is gold glove caliber and can even hit a bit- developed a young, read: inexpensive bullpen- you're right- total waste.

matmil

Your right but it would be nice to play a few meaningful games at least in August.

2ndhalffun
2ndhalffun

@Zach14 They would want DeGrom or Wheeler. Neither would I trade for Profar. I would sign free agent and not give up young pitching. Matt Reynolds has shown that he can hit at every level and he may be worth looking at at ss.

eric88
eric88

@matmil Tejada can no do that. That type of hitter requires speed, plus he is probably not willing to change.

Vincent Santiago
Vincent Santiago

@matmil I watched him dunk balls over short stops heads like he got a bonus for every hit. I remember Reyes leaving and thinking, you know if this Tejada guy could just be a .270/.280 guy and have good defense he'd make a completely adequate replacement to Reyes.  Now I'm just sick of looking at him in the lineup or on the field.

Antonino Plaud
Antonino Plaud

@2ndhalffun @Antonino Plaud  You now have too many good arms and Anderson don't know what to do with it, too many trades passes in front of him and does nothing, where is his great negotiator skilllett???

Antonino Plaud
Antonino Plaud

@Rich Anderson @Antonino Plaud If U look at it that way, Yes! its been a compensation factor, but how many years have taken to get that.

Ok accepting it as an achievement, Why not put up a pack like i said above and try to trade it for (Beltre and profar) or Arenado and Cargo. Or Baez and Junior Lake???

Dan Bahr
Dan Bahr

@matmil  Respectfully, meaningful for what?  it is highly unlikely we will get to the 2nd wild card and maybe not even .500.

drfc

@matmil At the expense of the future? I wouldn't give up a blade of next year's grass for a shot at short-term mediocrity this season.

Dan Bahr
Dan Bahr

@2ndhalffun @Zach14  Exactly right, 2ndhalffun.  I would much rather keep our young pitching and pick up a couple of strong free agents this winter.  Overall, we would be a much stronger team in 2015.

Rich Anderson
Rich Anderson

@eric88 @matmil that's always been my point with Tejada- if he had 30 SB potential, a total different mindset. Of course if there were 5 or 6 major league bats in line-up it wouldn't matter- until then...

matmil
matmil

Wrong Eric he needs brains not speed.

matmil

I don't know how old you are Vincent but I remember Felix Millan. He was the best 2 hitter the Mets ever had. He choked up 4 inches on the bat, never struck out and always moved the runners along when he had to. Felix always played on winning teams and they won partly because of him. That's the kind of player Tejada could be if he just wanted to be.

James
James

@Antonino Plaud @2ndhalffun What great deals for hitters have passed him by?  At the trade deadline the only great deals were for more pitching, while I would love to have Price on this team, I am not sure it is what we are looking to do, so what great trades have "passed him by," or are you assuming that he is just turning down deals for players like Stanton for no reason?

We should upgrade the offense with FA, and less "blockbuster" trades.  We should be able to move a player like Gee for a solid OF at the end of this season so long has he gets over this blip in the last few days.  Not Stanton, not a huge hitter, but for a solid Major League OF, we could also see a trade for a guy like Castro this off season, and I would hope we are in on some FA bats.

2ndhalffun
2ndhalffun

@Antonino Plaud @2ndhalffun Great young pitching ( Wheeler, DeGrom, Harvey, Thor) The others are no longer young and will Gee will be expensive and he can be traded. Jonathan Niese is injury prone and he can be traded. Alderson will deal when he has an advantage. Like Dickey for TDA and THOR.

James

@drfc @matmil This team needs a culture shift, it can't always be about next year, they need to start winning games in August and September too.

Rich Anderson

@matmil Met Felix a few years ago in the suites at Citi- true gentlemen. Was just old enough to remember him in '73. And they got George Stone in that trade too. Yogi pitches him in Series game 6, Mets have 3 rings.

Agreed,if Sandy and Terry leave him alone and let him play ball, he has to overcome them! They mentally beat him to a pulp and he's fighting back!

Antonino Plaud

@2ndhalffun You see you are putting up front that the product you are intenting to trade its a defective factory made, It is impossible you can get something good in return!!
