Baseball America has named RHP Noah Syndergaard the team’s top prospect.
Syndergaard is followed in order by C Travis d’Arnaud, RHP Rafael Montero, 1B Dominic Smith, C Kevin Plawecki, INF Wilmer Flores, SS Amed Rosario, OF Brandon Nimmo, SS Gavin Cecchini, and RHP Jacob deGrom.
In addition, Baseball America lists Syndergaard, RHP Zack Wheeler and RHP Matt Harvey as the team’s best three players under the age of 25 in the Mets organization.
“The Mets believe they have as much pitching depth as anybody,” the report’s author, Matt Eddy, explains. “For proof, they can point to the fact that their pitchers at the full-season levels finished with a collective 2.79 K-BB ratio, better than any of the other 29 organizations. They handed out the second-fewest unintentional walks (7.6 percent of batters) and struck out the third-most (21.3 percent).”
