Last night at Grayson Stadium in Savannah, the Sand Gnats finished off a sweep of the August Green Jackets with a 5-0 win.
Brandon Nimmo had three hits and drove in three runs, Dilson Herrera went 1-for-4, and Steven Matz allowed just one hit in seven shutout innings for the win.
Meanwhile, at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton, the B-Mets season came to a disappointing end at the hands of the Yankees Double-A affiliate from Trenton. The B-Mets got multiple-hit performances from Danny Muno, Josh Rodriguez and Xorge Castillo, but went just 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left 15 men on-base in their 3-0 loss. The B-Mets were swept out of the Eastern League playoffs with the loss.
The Las Vegas 51s staved off elimination with a 3-2 win over the Salt Lake Bees at Cashman Stadium last night. Dustin Lawley – who began his season at Single-A St. Lucie – had three hits including a home run, Kirk Nieuwenhuis reached base three times with two hits and a walk, and Ruben Tejada went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
