A look into the Mets fans’ psyche

What makes Mets fans show up — or not show up — to the ballpark? Recent winning streak notwithstanding, they haven’t been winning much over the last few years. Why, then, do people continue to support the team while showing relatively little protest?

Andrew Marchand sought to answer these questions and more, interviewing fans, radio voice Howie Rose, and pitcher Jon Niese.

For why he rooted for the Mets while his family was comprised of Yankees fans, Rose said, “The best part about the Mets was they weren’t the Yankees. The Yankees had that very corporate, cold, staid image. Frankly, they were a team that everybody in baseball from the administrative level to the fan base around the country wanted to see come totally unglued.” >> Read more at ESPN
