4 teams showing interest in Rangers OF Alex Rios

There are at least four teams showing interest in Rangers OF Alex Rios, reports Ken Rosenthal (FoxSports, July 28).

Rios, 33, is batting .299 with a .328 OBP, 33 extra base hits and 43 RBI while playing DH and right field for the Rangers this season.

He has a six-team no trade clause that reportedly includes the Yankees.

Rios will earn $12.5 million this season, has a $13.5 million team option for 2015, otherwise he can be made a free agent at the end of this year.

The Mets aren't trading for any big names at the break- and that's OK.

We just have to be patient because Sandy has worked... OK that's BS and everyone knows it. It's time someone around here showed some backbone and made a big trade. If it happens in the off-season, fine, but standing pat with the pitching prospects does absolutely nothing for the team going forward.

Acquiring a hitter without losing Harvey, DeGrom, Wheeler, Niese, and Gee should be considered a success. I could care less about losing Syndergaard, Montero, and Plawecki if there is no need for them at the big league level.

This guys is a flier signing that you make in late March - NOT a guy that you give up any prospects for.

Why is this Mets news? They've had 6 or 7 years to make a move on a bag of balls like this. Great scoop!

We didn't go for him while he was in his prime and we better sure not go for him now. Pass, big pass.

@Kevin VanTassell Because the Mets are going to do nothing so Matt posts random news hoping you'll get confused and think the Mets could be one of those teams.

@mi I think that's a great idea - the Mets need more players who hit worse than .200 away from Coors Field - I haven't gotten my fill watching Chris Young waste at bats over the last few months.

@Wes @mi the fact that you just compared chris young to cargo says it all about your baseball iq

You're right about his baseball IQ. He's smart enough to realize that cargo - coors field < Chris Young this season.

@Tom Gallagher last year he batted 60 points higher avg on the road, more hrs and rbis..get a clue

@mi @sandybgone @Tom Gallagher He could be downplaying his hand to get additional leverage.  He has done this in the past.  I remember being really worried that he wouldn't trade Dickey; soon enough he made the move for more than I could have imagined.
