BTW, if you are still feeling the buzz for the Mets, you can watch Plawecki and Thor on MLB now in the futures game :)

Grandy may be the most well-spoken person on the team. He should consider broadcasting when it's all over.

PIITB!!!!! Enjoy the break, folks. Let's hope the Mets are more July and less May when we resume!

What was the record at the ASB last year?

Is Collins wise to use Carlisle with more than a 6 run lead.

Wierd standings in the NL for the All Star break, tie in the East, tie in the Central and just 1 game seperating the Dodgers and Giants in the West.  COuld have finished the day with ties in all 3 divisions potentially except for the Brew Crew taking it to STL today will break that tie.  Still will be an interesting second half, hopefully we can make some way there.

It haunts me when Sandy said a couple of weeks ago that the team is not performing as expected. Well, the team must have read the article and decided to turn it around. And, more importantly they are doing it in CitiField. . . Lets GOooo Mets!

it will be interesting what the mets do with colon. I think it was always sandy's plan to flip him at the deadline for prospects, but the mets are playing competitive baseball as of late. Colon factors into the equation for a stretch run

For once in a long while EVERYTHING is going the Mets way.

And,what can you say about deGrom,if you hadn't knew him at all you would never guess this guy is a raw rookie, hes quite polished and in control out there.

The kid can also rake to boot.

I don't get it, but why do fans leave early in a blowout like this? When I had the Saturday plan back at Shea I always stayed through the wins no matter the score

If we keep tacking on runs, by the end of the game our run differential is going to have Sandy wondering why we're not leading the division!

@Randy Wilcox  Wouldn't be surprised if ESPN and other sports networks were knocking on Grandys door after he retired.

@sandybgone To be honest I don't agree with this, I want Sandy to make moves at the deadline, but only for something with a longterm benefit, not to sure up this year.  I agree we can't keep relying on prospects, but this year is not worth mortgaging the future for.  If we can get a player for the next few years at the deadline, we do it, I doubt that will be available, but if it is we should get it.  Otherwise our assets do us better for picking up that extra player in a future year not this year.

@sandybgone I actually wouldn't mind trading Colon and bringing up Syndergaard in his place. Far as I'm concerned, Bartolo did his job: deliver enough quality starts to keep the team close and boost his trade value by the middle of July.

Get a solid piece for him and keep the pitching going wtih Thor. On the other hand, I like watching Colon pitch and wouldn't freak out if he stayed.

@Jay Cross  If I'm not mistaken,we were 10 or 11 games out at the ASB.

Basically every team ahead of the Mets are in contention...Mets are the best team(by record) that isn't in contention....hopefully they can join the group by the end of the month

@mets2death But Tejada was involved in two sucessful double plays, though!

I didn't expect him to be bad, but I didn't expect him to be this good

@Tormented Mets Fan Sunday afternoon, I got stuff to do and don't want to get caught up in traffic for hours.  I would have left too.

Jay Cross
Jay Cross

@baldy It would have to be something like +15 or +20 after this right?

EDIT: ESPN says it's +11 right now which is actually 2 better than Atlanta's. Not sure if that figure includes the game in progress.

@citifield They just mentioned the rain, didn't mention it was hard interesting

Lol we were like 500 at the break last year

Jay Cross

@ShawnP @Jay Cross That makes this a pretty big improvement when you consider the team wasn't playing anywhere near this well last year. It's not just the four extra wins, it's the way they're winning. Very encouraging!

And he scored our third run. But people, I guess, must find something to complain about.

James
James

@Tormented Mets Fan That's what Sandy is saying too...  Let's hope it is more than a hot streak.  For him and the team.

Well wouldn't it make more sense to stay til the end so you won't get caught with the masses leaving early?

Frank Tangorra

It just takes a team to get desperate and give up what Sandy wants back. Sabean never wanted to give up Wheeler for Beltran but he got desperate.

James
James

@Jay Cross @ShawnP of course the two years before that we were over .500 at this point and finished in basically the same spot as last year.  The next 66 games will say a lot about how this team holds togetehr.

ShawnP
ShawnP

@Jay Cross @ShawnP  Absolutely.

Something completely different seems to be happening here.Keith also mentioned that today.

James
James

@Tormented Mets Fan Nah, those who leave early spread themselves out, the end of the game is sitll the primary rush.

Jay Cross
Jay Cross

@Frank Tangorra Sandy has won enough trades by now that I trust his thought process if he goes for it. By now we know he's not trading somebody without getting exactly what he wants. If nobody gets desperate, I think Colon sticks around.

Jay Cross
Jay Cross

@ShawnP @Jay Cross For as much grief as everyone gives Cerrone, I have to give him some credit. He always said the key to a winning season was Duda and d'Arnaud and both have been outstanding during this stretch. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Obviously, the pitching is the other half of the equation.

theglider
theglider

Ozuna got an infield hit. Nothing anyone could do on that play. It happens.

We're winning 9-1 and someone is complaining. I'm not surprised.

James
James

@sandybgone @Jay Cross @Frank Tangorra Disagree with this entirely, Sandy made a KILLING on the Dickey deal, TDA and Thor were two of our best prospects, prospects are just prospects and they can fade, but you trade for the talent, and Sandy got a STEAL.  Period.

Jay Cross
Jay Cross

@baldy @Jay Cross Beautiful! And for once, it feels real -- like the play on the field is supporting that contention.

James
James

@sandybgone @James @Jay Cross @Frank Tangorra See I disagree with your grading system, you make the deal at the time not with a crystal ball.  To me Sandy got a great value for Dickey considering the situation we were in at the time.
