Jeurys Familia finished his season with a strong performance
Yesterday in Rochester, Jeurys Familia allowed three runs with a walk nine strikeouts in seven innings in the Bison’s 10-3 victory over the Red Wings.
Familia earned his ninth win of the season yesterday, improving to 9-9 with a 4.73 ERA in 28 starts this season – Familia will likely lead the International League with those 28 starts.
However, Familia averaged under five innings per start this year while walking 73 batters in only 137 innings.
Familia’s late-season progress is very, very encouraging. Whether or not the Mets call up Familia for a look in September this year, I hope the team stays patient with him and returns him to AAA (wherever) to begin 2013 where he can continue to work as a starter.
