Tuesday’s pitching preview: McHugh vs. Rodriguez

Collin McHugh (0-2, 3.86 ERA) will start for the Mets tonight.

McHugh is making his fourth start of the season – he’s made one good start, and two uneven starts so far since being called up from Triple-A Buffalo. He had a solid relief effort against the Phillies last week, allowing a run in three innings. McHugh is making his first start since September 10 tonight.

Wandy Rodriguez (11-13, 3.76 ERA) will start for the Pirates tonight.

Rodriguez was roughed up for four runs in four innings against the Brewers in his last start. Since being acquired from the Astros in July, Rodriguez has allowed three earned runs or less in eight of his ten starts with the Pirates. Rodriguez pitched well against the Mets earlier this season while with Houston, allowing a run in seven innings with five strikeouts in an 8-1 win – Rodriguez is 4-2 with a 2.68 ERA in eight career starts against New York.
