Saturday’s pitching preview: R.A. Dickey vs. Mark Buehrle

R.A. Dickey (18-6, 2.67 ERA) will start for the Mets this afternoon. Dickey now leads the league in ERA, innings pitched, complete games, and shutouts, and is one strikeout behind Clayton Kershaw for the lead in that category as well. Dickey was a tough luck loser against the Phillies in his last start when he allowed two runs in seven innings on Monday night. Dickey has dazzled the Marlins in 2012, going 4-0 with a 1.16 ERA in four starts over 31 innings against them.

Mark Buehrle (13-12, 3.78 ERA) will start for the Marlins this afternoon.

Buehrle has gone seven innings or more in five of his last six starts, and has pitched to a 3.70 ERA over that span. He allowed four runs in 7 2/3 innings in his last start against the Reds although he earned his 13th win of the year in that game. Buehrle is 0-2 with a 3.92 ERA in three starts against the Mets in 2012.
