Nothing like winning to get some positive chatter going...oh, wait...

Saw BBTN Larkin saying the Braves and Nats are the division didn't mention anyone else. Shame no one knows.

Ok so here's the deal we know sandy has to make a trade in order for Noah and Monty to come up we also know there will be potential bats out there, however! If granderson and wright can start hitting duda stays hitting in the 260 range and d'arnaud can turn it on why would we need a huge bat? No what we need is a above avg shortstop such as tulowitski such as Hanley Ramirez asdrubal Cabrera jj hardy (who is expendable to Baltimore because manny Machado is originally a SS) Jed lowrie

Hoping Grandy gets it going with a few HRs out of that bandbox in Philly.

Guys enough with Abreu.  Think about this; After today, he is on pace to hit 62.3 home runs.  How many wins is he on pace for?  4.5.  That's how bad his defense is.  He could hit 63 home runs and still not be an MVP candidate.  He's not going to hit 63 home runs.  He might not even hit 33 home runs.  Even if he does, there was no way to know he would do that going into the year.  Duda has been fine.  The reason the Mets didn't sign Abreu was because they had three third basemen on the roster plus Wilmer Flores and Allan Dykstra in AAA.  1B wasn't and isn't a positional need.  You can, however, rip the Mets for signing Granderson.  Citi Field is not kind to left-handed power, and Granderson doesn't hit anything to the opposite field or on the ground.  We could have seen this low BA from a mile away.

Jose Abreu now has 10 HRs and 31 RBIs. He is making 7 mil this year. Sure glad we got Grandy who is making 13 mil this year.

The Mets won't be mentioned unless if they are in the same position in the standings as they are today in late July.

@mustang66  Why is everyone so obsessed with SS's for a team that's 8-20?  Never mind that, tell me why the Mets should burn a pitching prospect(s) for 3 guys that aren't head and shoulders better than Tejada?  Mob mentality is making It easy to hate Tejada.  But making a trade just to get him off the team is stupid IMO.

You guys are missing the point I said such as meaning similar too I'm saying the upgrade at SS is all we really need At the moment but we need a ss with pop like tulo like Hanley like Jed I'm trying to figure out why other mets fans keep saying we need 1st baseman when duda has been above avg neise will be traded it's only a matter of time

C.K. Dexter Haven

@Zac Tindall  Tulo...best all around SS in the game.  But he is a cornerstone in Denver, and hurt more than he's healthy; Schoop can't play 3rd, and Flaherty can't hit, so I don't think Machado is moving to SS anytime soon, so JJ is still worth keeping for Baltimore; HanRam can't stay healthy AND is a prima dona; Jed just turned 30, can hit but has stone hands all of a sudden (16 E's last year?); Asdrubal is a thought, but his offensive numbers are getting worse by the year.

I like that your post is about SS ideas other than Arizona's 3...

@Zac Tindall  You're assuming the Mets are going to increase payroll to get any of these guys. I heavily doubt it. the Mets goal in the sandy era is REDUCE payroll and try and build the minor league system. I don't see this changing, at least not this year.

nymetsrule
nymetsrule

@Zac Tindall Mets will not be getting any of those guys, or any short stop for that matter. I still do not believe owners have much interest in winning, even if the team does well.

@Noah Baron  I reserve the right to revisit this Abreu thing in July.  He's a good player and he has power to spare.  But lets see where he is after half a season of playing every day, and when opposing teams have developed a "book" on him.  I agree with you though...the constant updates are annoying.  If these guys love him so much as a player, go root for the pale hose...

He's only getting paid 10 million I'll take a 4.5 war player for 10 million....and war doesn't tell the whole story....do you know what having that power threat in the middle of the lineup would do...and most scouts believed he would be a big power threat coming 8 to the season....he is the real deal

Scott Rogers

@Noah Baron if he hits 63 hr i guarantee he is a mvp candidate if not the mvp, i dont how bad his glove and most writers dont , the people who like the war stat  are not writers , i think most of them are bloggers

@Noah Baron  This has to be one of the most ignorant comments I've read. Abreu is a monster power hitter. The Mets need....get ready for this....a monster in the middle of the lineup...what are the Mets missing......get ready for this....a 1B...what is Abreu? a 1B.......

Someone remind me when Carlos Delgado or Keith Hernandez resurfaced on our roster.....

Granderson wouldn't have many home runs in my backyard. He doesn't make contact enough.Hope it's the cold.Duda isn't doing bad.Pitching is everything.

@Phil Mancini  Sure, Abreu may have 10 Hrs and 31 RBIs. Sure, he may be rookie of the year. And just because he plays first base?

Don't worry! We have Lucas Duda!

@Michael Vincent DiPaula  Good thing people do analysis by Crystal Ball, Tarot Cards and by consulting psychics.  It is just too hard to do analysis based on the way things are and not the way things are supposed to be.

@C.K. Dexter Haven @mustang66  The SS in Arizona are no better than Ruben, the player everyone wanted in Seattle (franklin) has been sent down because he cant play either.  If the Mets need power the need to trade pitching for whatever power is available.

helloboy

@nymetsrule @Zac Tindall  Yes, because it is not in the owners best interest to win.  Not like they would bring in more cash if they were winning or anything.

The owners want to win, they are hoping they can win with a limited payroll by getting as much out of their internal and cheaper options as possible.  Given the cash on hand issues they have, they have no other choice.

Let's not think they do not want to win... they just wish they could do more and should just stop lying about the finances.

Why the hate for Duda?Only player with pop on this team.He is playing well.

Move on. Duda's performed fine so far. For all we know Abreu could be the next Mike Jacobs. Can we just wait and see past April?

@JimmyBX182 @Brian McCarthy I hear the Pirates have a guy under 30 who once went 30/90 and plays great defense. Maybe we can pry him away?

@specialk @JimmyBX182 @Brian McCarthy  I LOVE how American scouts are talking about Abreu's defense. Please...Name is a scout who is willing to put his name to those reports.

I will trust a Cuban 1B over some stiff like Duda at the base.

@JimmyBX182 @Brian McCarthy  There is a difference between being average to below average and NOT being able to field on the major league level.  Get it through your head, there are different levels here and Abreu is not have major league capability at first.   That's like you saying you want my grandma to play first and when I say he can't play your response is, well and Duda can?

Brian McCarthy
Brian McCarthy

Scouts don't think Abreu can field. That's why CWS signed him.If he can't field he can DH.Mets don't have that luxury.Plus he wasn't proven for these cheap owners to spend money on.I don't like the Granderson signing because we have too many strike outs on this team.

JimmyBX182
JimmyBX182

@Brian McCarthy  They should have signed Abreu. It's turning out to be a huge mistake letting him walk. We gave money to Granderson, which seems to be another free agent miss by Balderson

C.K. Dexter Haven
C.K. Dexter Haven

@JimmyBX182  Ok...so what are we supposed to do with all of this sycophantic BS you're spewing about Abreu?  He's signed for 6 years...NOT with the Mets.  Soooooo....what exactly are you prattling on about?   The fact that the Mets didn't sign him? Neither did 28 other teams who didn't think his services were worth a 6 year commitment. The sox value DHs more than other teams do.  Check their history. But since there's nothing that can be done to change things, what's the purpose?

JimmyBX182
JimmyBX182

@90wins @niesesnose  The fuss is our current 1B is an inadequate defensive 1B and is a soft #4/5 hitter.

Abreu is better offensively and defensively

90wins
90wins

@JimmyBX182 @niesesnose  Flash in a pan. Abreu can't run or field. And the white sox are second last in their division. What's the fuss about.

JimmyBX182
JimmyBX182

@niesesnose   Letting Abreu walk by was a terrible non-move. Abreu is a proven masher. Cuban baseball is EXTREMELY competitive. Stop being the typical close-minded American, dude. These foreign are superior players. What the hell makes you think Abreu is some flash in the pan? Seriously? You think those Cuban stars wouldn't lay waste to minor league levels here in the States?

Get your mind out of the 1970's, kid.

Lets see what dudq does in the upcomin series

niesesnose
niesesnose

So far in 143 innings, Duda hasn't made a single error. But then again, you're the same moron who wants desperately to get Wheeler off this team. And where did I say Duda is an everyday 1B? I said AGAINST RIGHTIES, AS IN A PLATOON, he is good.

ponzies86
ponzies86

What are you talkig about ? During the last 2 series there were hot shots hit his way where Ike makes those plays easy and Duda couldnt get to. Wake up you are amon the minority who thinks duda is a legit everyday 1st baseman

niesesnose
niesesnose

Can you give me an example of Duda making horrible errors this year? As an outfielder, yes, he's terrible, and as a 1B he's serviceable. Career wise he's always hitter better as a 1B. If he only plays against righties, which he is, he gives you solid power production and a high wRC+. Again, look at his wRC+ so far. It's been great

ponzies86
ponzies86

@niesesnose duda is bad defensively and offensively he is average to below average hitter. Nothing special

niesesnose
niesesnose

Right now, Duda has hit well and has driven in runs. He has a 130 wRC+. I don't understand your hate for Duda.

ponzies86
ponzies86

@niesesnose What are you smoking? So you are fine with Duda being the perminate 1st baseman? If so yiu my friend is lost. Duda is ok but not the answer at 1st
