Michael Baron, ContributorThat was just a rough day at the office for Gee. He had no control over anything – he was all over the place and the lack of control resulted in four walks and two hit batsmen. He said after the game he didn’t know what went wrong, but he just has to forget it and continue to get ready.
I was very impressed with Burke’s effort today. He was thrown right into the fire and asked to get a tough out against Miguel Cabrera, and he responded by inducing a pop up to end the fifth inning. Those are the kind of outs Burke will need to show he can get if he is to make the team, as he’s going to be asked to neutralize tough right-handed hitters in pressurized situations during the season.
The Mets head to Disney World to face the Braves at Champion Stadium tomorrow afternoon, with Jeremy Hefner facing Tim Hudson at 1:05 pm.
