The Least You Should Know:
Jenrry Mejia earned his first career Major League victory, pitching five scoreless innings allowing four hits and two walks while striking out four.
Ike Davis hit his 29th and 30th homeruns of the season, driving in five runs. It was Davis’ third multi-homerun game of the season.
David Wright drove in his 85th RBI of the season in the fifth inning and also scored two runs.
Manny Acosta pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Mike NicholsExcellent night for Ike Davis, who put a crooked number on the board for the Mets in the fourth inning with a two-run homerun. Then in the fifth he launched his second homerun of the night, three-run shot to right-centerfield for his 30th homerun of the season. After an absolutely horrific first few months, Davis has come a long way to turn his season around. I have to admit I wasn’t confident we would see this resurgence from Ike. It’s been a slow and steady uphill climb for Davis. And, reaching the 30 homerun plateau for the first time is certainly something he should be proud of.
Congrats to Jenrry Mejia, who earned his first career Major League win tonight. Hopefully its the first of many for the youngster. He looked much improved coming off his last start nine days ago. However, even with pitching five scoreless innings, Mejia still struggled with his command, pitching to several full counts early in the game. As he continues to develop and learn to pitch at the Major League level, I expect him to become more efficient.
As noted during the broadcast, Daniel Murphy continues to play a solid second base, making two terrific defensive plays tonight. Coming into the season Murphy’s defense at second was a question mark, but even with his 15 errors this season he is making solid strides defensively.
