Mets are still spending less than last year not more. Each year we are told to wait for next year. There are no great free agents in 2015 to improve this team. Any good ss will get more to stay with their team or get more than mets will offer. You need a ss now. If you watched the lack of effort and skill of tejada. We need a miracle at first base. But an outfielder might help next year. Frankin would help. Worth a prospect.

Did Lagares just pass EY on the backstretch? 2 singles in a game where Young had a costly error. I hope so.

I would be surprised if any of the young pitchers make the opening day roster.  I think Sandy is trying to build value with Dice-K, Colon and the other veteran pitcher (Hanrahan?).  To impress another team, these guys would have to have decent major league stats so Sandy can trade them in May/June.  Minor league success for these veterans is not going to produce much trade value.  Sandy has done an unbelievable job with these kinds of trades and I can only hope he pulls off one or two more.

Who is this Matt Clark guy?  Is there a chance?

Good grief.....Syndergaard is a major league pitcher right now, despite what he did today. He needs to stay down so the Mets get the extra year before they have to really pay him, which I agree with and which is a prudent financial move, especially for a team as mediocre as the mets are this year. If not for money concerns he'd be in the starting rotation to begin the season. He doesn't need any more time in the minors; he can learn what he needs to facing major league batters.

Our concern should not be for who is playing SS or 1st  this year, or who is in our starting rotation, because it doesn't matter....our concern should be how we are going to convert some of our young arms into young bats. We need to worry about getting the next David Wright into the farm system and stop worrying about whether the 2014 mets win 75 games, or 80 with the addition of Drew.

EY is a fourth outfielder and an emergency infielder on a major league roster. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy.

Syndergard gave up 2 runs. I was at the game, if Eric Young had fielded a ground ball, which everyone in my section believed a good second baseman would have, Noah would have been out of the inning with no runs scored. The Mets need better infielders if they are going to give these young pitchers a chance. 2nd and SS are below avg at best on this team.

I thought Flores and Satin were going to rake and force their way into the lineup???  I know its early but neither looks like hitting machines.  Flores looks destined for a AAA start but would they send Statin back to AAA after his extended stay last season?  Need as productivity as you can get from the bench if you want to win games.  If Statin doesn't hit in spring, you have to bring somebody up who does.....

Noah giving up the two runs is no big deal.

Does he need more time in the minors?  Yeah.

But he'll be ready for the big time by June when they call him....

Go get Drew Sandy! There has to be a price that is fair for drew and the mets.

deGrom deserves a spot in the bullpen.

Thor needs a little more seasoning in AAA....in 2015 we are going to have a sick rotation.

ninth inning come from behind, save a few for regular season, but nice to see

@Steven Matregrano.  There is nothing he can do that would make the Mets start the season with him in the rotation.  Mark it down now.  They won't start his arbitration eligibility clock or whatever the hell it is that's causing the Mets to wait....

@BlackDynamite  How do you know on a 145 innings limit. He's gonna have 5 starts when he gets called up and the shut down. If he is ready in June, he's ready now.

@Jaime Very doubtful that Granderson gets traded by midseason.  C. Young is obviously a different story, as he's only on a one year deal.  If Puello tears it up at AAA, maybe something happens there.

I've been preaching that on this blog for months, but everyone keeps telling me that Puello won't be good enough to handle MLB pitching. How do you know? We won't know until he's called up. The guy is destroying AA and probably AAA pitching, and is definitely more athletic than Duda. Some people on this blog think Kirk and Dekker are the future of our OF, but Puello is already way better than them.

@mikerolli  Absolutely. Giving up 2 earned runs during a Spring Training game (!!!!) against one of the most offensively potent teams in baseball just screams he doesn't have the stuff

Reading that the Red Sox starting to worry about their young left side of the infield and may sign Drew.

Leave deGrom as a starter where his trade value is the highest.

Montero is still further along than Noah. Noah still has minor mechanical flaws that will lead to more walks when the games start to count. If you want to rant about not bringing youth up north to save money, your white knight should be Montero. Noah still needs work.

I'll take an extra year when he's a veteran then 2 months of his rookie year.

@eric88 @BlackDynamite

This time with the big club will show his strengths, and things he can work on until June.

He's not ready, but he's close.

I'd rather him spend more time below than be rushed too soon.  The Mets have made that mistake too many times before....

Forget the runs. It's the three walks in a Spring training game where guys are itching to swing the bat. 3 walks in ST= command issues.
