Vinny Cartiglia: I wonder if people voted with heart in hand and panicked last Monday, which is when the poll was posted, following a tough series sweep by the Reds. Why? Because in conversations with other fans, including the casual fans that enter my barbershop on a daily basis, I am getting a different vibe and one that is more consistent with the polls prior to last week. I have found that since Johan Santana’s no-hitter, the casual fan has started paying more attention to the Mets, realizing that something special may be happening in Queens and they don’t want to miss out.  And so, it will be very interesting to see the results to this week’s poll, which unfortunately comes following a very uninspiring loss to the Cubs last night.
